Get to know Missouri S&T

On Jan. 1, 2008, the University of Missouri-Rolla will become Missouri University of Science and Technology -- Missouri S&T. The name reflects our mission as one of the world's top technological research universities -- a campus where discovery, innovation and creativity are the norm.

That's the way it's been since our founding in 1870 as the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy -- the nation's first technological school west of the Mississippi. As a land-grant institution, MSM produced the engineers, scientists and innovators who helped drive the Industrial Revolution. As technology changed through the decades, our tradition of training leaders in innovation has remained constant.
